Apple Cinnamon Bread Pudding w/ Warm Vanilla Sauce
The ultimate comfort food in a dessert...Just like Grandma used to make!

4 c french bread cubed
2 c peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples
1 c dark brown sugar
1 3/4 c milk
1/4 c butter
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t vanilla
2 eggs beaten
1/4 c white sugar
1/4 c brown sugar
1/2 c milk
1/2 c butter
1 t vanilla
Place the oven rack in the center position. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 7 x 11 inch baking dish.
Combine bread and apple slices in a large bowl. Place 1 c brown sugar, 1 3/4 c milk and 1/4 c butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until butter melts (do not boil). Pour over bread mixture.
In a small bowl whisk together cinnamon, 1/2 t vanilla, and eggs. Pour bread mixture into the prepared pan. Pour egg mixture over the bread. Bake in preheated oven 40-50 minutes, or until the center is set. (Insert a knife in the center, if it comes out clean the pudding is set)
While pudding is baking, mix together all sauce ingredients except the vanilla in a saucepan. Bring to boil, then remove from heat, and stir in vanilla. Serve over pudding.
