Hot Apple Cider with Rum

Hot apple cider defines autumn. This recipe, adds a "splash" of rum!

INGREDIENTS
1 apple
2 1/4 teaspoons whole cloves
2 oranges, sliced
2 quarts apple cider
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon allspice
Pinch grated nutmeg
1 1/4 cups dark rum
8 cinnamon sticks
DIRECTIONS
  1. Stud apple with the cloves. In a medium sized  pot, combine the studded apple, orange slices, cider, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg.  Slowly bring to a simmer. Simmer for 10- 12 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the rum. Pour into mugs and garnish each with a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.
