Send invitations featuring a witch, warlock or wizard... perhaps all three. We found this witch inspired invitation at plumparty.com. Request that your guests come dressed as witches, warlocks or wizards; tell them that prizes will be awarded for the most chillingly convincing costumes.

Set the Scene

Create an atmosphere where your witches, warlocks and wizards will feel right at home! Take them back to the underworld castles and caverns where it all began, with......

A life size witch greeting guests at the front door.
Giant spider webs hung in corners, ceiling and walls (adding to the 'cavernous haunt' you are creating).
Carved pumpkins, containing candles, to cast creepy shadows on the walls.
Witch's hats and capes tossed on tables and draped on chairs to give the room a "homey" touch.
Cover lamp shades with black lace and use low wattage bulbs to keep the lights low and eerie.
Bowls mounded with shiny red apples (poison, of course!!)

Set a buffet table, fit for a cavern with:

Table linens in Halloween colors
Gothic inspired candlesticks
Serve beverages in skeleton goblets.
A Witch's Hat as a centerpiece

Activities

Witches, Warlocks and Wizards Costume Contest - Have the guests vote on the scariest, funniest, most authentic and best overall costume. Collect the votes and award prizes.
Treasure Hunt - Create a key for this Halloween Treasure Chest (filled with candy and a bottle of Blavod - the black vodka). Now, hide the key. Announce clues to its location throughout the evening until someone finds the 'key'.
Witch's Potion 'Charades'- Make a list of Halloween themed characters (such as Frankenstein, Dracula, Icabod Crane, etc), write their names on slips of paper and place the slips in a cauldron. One by one, have each guest pull out a slip and act out the character. Have the guests vote on the best 'presentation' skills.
