Kid Alert... Gingerbread House-Making Party
Gingerbread houses....We think of Hansel and Gretel! As the story goes; brother and sister are abandoned deep in the forest by their father and wicked stepmother. After days of wandering, they follow a beautiful white bird to a clearing in the woods and discover a cottage built of gingerbread, with window panes of clear sugar. This year have the kids create their own fairy tale gingerbread houses as they listen to the story of Hansel and Gretel!

Invitaions: Create your own invite. A trip to the craft store or scrapbooking shop will fill your head with ideas. Pick up some brown paper card stock, candy stickers and decorate your 'gingerbread house' invite. Ask your guests to bring their favorite decorative candy to add to the candy bowl for the gingerbread house decorating activity. |

Activities: Gingerbread house decorating: Set up individual stations for each guest around the table with pre-assembled gingerbread houses. Fill candy bowls and platters with decorative candies and frosting tubes to adorn the houses. Have the kids vote on the best house and award a prize. Hansel and Gretel...The story. Dress up in a gingerbread man costume and read the story aloud, as the the children decorate their houses. Hansel & Gretel...What about the story? Ask questions pertaining to the story and award prizes for correct answers! |
