Al's Hot Buttered Rum Drink
A sip of this holiday concoction will warm your tummy, heart and soul all winter long. Our family has enjoyed this drink for over 30 years. The great thing is, the mix is prepared ahead and stored in the freezer, perfect for when someone drops by (expected or unexpected).
PREP TIME: 15 min.
Ice Cream Mix: 1 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup butter, room temperature 2 cups vanilla bean ice cream ________________________________ Drink: (amount per serving) 1.5 ounces dark rum (Captain Morgans or 3/4 cup boiling hot water 2 heaping tablespoons of the above mix cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish
Mix: Let vanilla ice cream soften for 20 minutes in the refrigerator. Use a mixer to blend the 2 sugars, butter and ice cream. Put mix in a freezer safe container with tight fitting lid. Freeze overnight.
Drink: Fill each mug or heat safe glass with 2 ounces of dark rum, 3/4 cup of boiling water and 2 heaping tablespoons of ice cream mix. Stir until ice cream mixture is blended into the water and rum. Sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg on top.
Unused mix can be stored in the freezer for several months.
