Thanksgiving Dinner Party

Who's in our kitchen this Thanksgiving?

(Child, of course)

From Julia's kitchen to your Thanksgiving table.  Julia's flare in the kitchen was renowned and her love of food, ever present in her recipes.  This is a Thanksgiving dinner party to be remembered and a time to give thanks for Julia!

Create your own Thanksgiving dinner partyinvite with this classic photo of Julia preparing the bird!  Ask your guests to bring their favorite 'Julia' side dish to add to your feast.

Scene -

On the buffet table a framed Bon Appetit art piece resting on an easel.  Candles for soft lighting.

Chef's hats monogrammed with the guests name set on each dinner plate as name cards (a bit of whimsy, as a nod to Julia's sense of humor)

Julia was all about the 'proper' way to do things...Make the Thanksgiving dinner party table a formal affair.  A white linen tablecloth and napkins, layered with a French Toile cloth, crystal stemware, the family silver and your best china set the table.

Fresh flowers for the centerpiece - keep it low so the guests can enjoy each other!

The Thankful Game - At the dinner table place two slips of paper at each person's place setting.  On the first slip of paper ask guests to complete this sentence, I am thankful for_______ (it can be funny, sincere, etc.).  Then gather the answers and put in a bowl.  The bowl is passed and each guest selects a slip and reads it aloud.  The second piece of paper will allow guests to make notes and guess who they think is the person actually thankful for each entry.  Finally, each guest 'fesses up' as to what they wrote.  The guest with the most correct answers wins.

Turkey Trot (for kids and young at heart) - Work up an appetite for the big meal ahead with a zany backyard contest!   Players pair up, back to back,  with their elbows linked.  Each team is handed a turkey (football) mascot. You can make a mascot by taping a paper turkey head to one end of a football.  On ready...set...go, the pairs race to the finish line at the far end of the playing field.  The first team to get there without dropping their bird or unlinking their arms wins!

TV Bingo - Liven up the parade or football viewing with a fun TV version of Bingo
