SERVINGS: 24 bars
PREP TIME: 20 minutes
COOK TIME: 40 minutes
INGREDIENTS
CRUST
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 cubes butter
FILLING
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 large egg- beaten
1 cup peeled, chopped Fuji apple
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup Heath English Toffee Bits
GLAZE
1 cup powdered sugar
2 to 3 tbsps. strong brewed coffee, cooled to room temperature
DIRECTIONS
Crust- Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine flour and 1/2 cup powdered sugar in medium bowl. Cut in butter with fork (or pastry blender) until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into bottom of 13 x 9-inch baking dish- spray the sides only with cooking oil spray- NOT the bottom of the pan. Bake 15 minutes or until set.
Filling- Blend sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, cinnamon and beaten egg in large bowl. Add remaining filling ingredients; mix well. Pour mixture over partially baked crust. Bake an additional 35 to 40 minutes or until filling is set and top is golden. Cool 10 minutes. Cool completely (1 hour+) and run knife around the edges before cutting into squares.
Glaze-Combine glaze ingredients in small bowl, adding enough coffee for desired drizzling consistency. Blend until smooth. Drizzle over bars. Let stand 10 minutes or until glaze is set. Cut into bars. Store in loosely covered container.
