Old Fashion Cream Peas and Potatoes

For many of us growing up, this dish was a Sunday staple...And it's still as good as it use to be!

INGREDIENTS
4 medium red new potatoes, cubed 1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas 1 teaspoon sugar 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper or 1/2 teaspoon white pepper 1-1/2 cups milk 2 tablespoons minced fresh dill
DIRECTIONS
In a medium size saucepan, place cubed potatoes and cover with water. Over high heat, bring water to a boil, then reduce to medium heat and cook potatoes until tender.
Cook peas according to package directions.
Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat: add flour, salt and pepper to form a paste. Stir in milk, gradually. Continue stirring while bringing mixture to a boil. Let boil for 1 minute. Stir dill into the mixture and continue cooking until thickened and bubbly.
Drain peas and potatoes. Place peas in serving bowl; add sugar and stir. Add potatoes to serving bowl. Pour sauce over peas and potatoes and stir to coat. Ready to serve!
