Not Just Another Grilled Cheese

How do we say "major" comfort food. Creamy, savory and just plain delish!

COOK TIME: 4 min.

1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 c (4 oz) shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 c fresh basil, thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 t coarsely ground pepper
8 slices sourdough bread
2 avocados, peeled and sliced
1 (24 oz) pkg. thick-sliced bacon, cooked
4 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced
2 T butter
  1. Stir together first 5 ingredients and spread evenly on 4 of the bread slices.
  2. Layer evenly on the 4 bread slices that do not have the cheese mixture, avocado, bacon, and tomato; top with bread slices spread with cheese mixture.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches, 2 at a time, until golden on each side, turning once (about 2 min. per side). Serve immediately.
