Dagwood Sandwiches ala The Party Saviors
CATEGORY: Sandwiches- Cold
Here's the PartySavior's take on a sandwich that's been popular since the 1930’s - named after a popular comic strip. Not only are they fun to look at; they're absolutely DELISH!

SERVINGS: 6
PREP TIME: 20 minutes
INGREDIENTS

1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 1/2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/3 cup pesto
12 thick cut slices crusty Italian bread
1/3 pound sliced pepperoni  1/3 pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese
1/3 pound thinly sliced smoked turkey breast
1/3 pound thinly sliced provolone
1/3 pound thinly sliced roast beef
1/3pound thinly sliced pastrami
1/3 pound thinly sliced pepper jack cheese
1/3 pound sliced salami
6 pieces thick-cut bacon, cooked crisp and halved
1 large tomato, cut into thin slices
12 whole green leaf lettuce leaves, washed, patted dry
6 cherry tomatoes
12 black olives
6 bamboo skewers

DIRECTIONS
Combine mayonnaise and mustard in a small bowl.
Arrange 6 bread slices on a large cutting board. Spread 2 tablespoons of the mayonnaise mixture evenly on each slice.
Layer the meat and cheeses evenly among the bread slices in this order: pepperoni, Swiss, turkey, provolone, roast beef, pastrami, pepper jack, and salami. (Fold the meats so that the sandwiches will stack evenly on top of each other.) End with tomato slices and bacon.
Spread about 1 tablespoon of the pesto on the remaining slices of bread and place on top of sandwiches.  Stack 3 sandwiches on top of one another, separating sandwiches with lettuce leaves.  Secure with 3 bamboo skewers.  Place a black olive, cherry tomato and another black olive through each skewer. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
